AUDIENCE: Classroom Teachers

It seems we have three options:
  1. kids-helping them choose a research process (If we choose this, I think we'd have to focus on 4th and 5th)
  2. classroom teachers-helping them feel comfortable with a method to use
  3. teacher librarians-helping them pick a method to teach.

Mandy, does one of these stick out to you?

I like option #2- trying to persuade the classroom teachers to use a specific research model.

TOPIC: Big 6

The topic will be the research model we choose after researching at least two models in the KWLQ charts.
I think the Big 6 would be a better choice than the Inquiry Prosess for our presentation. Just in my research, I've found that there is a lot more available about the Big 6, at least in a more concrete way. The inquiry process is presented under several different names (i.e. inquiry based learning, inquiry) and it is confusing to know when it's just a questioning style and when it is a research based activity. Also, I think there is more support available to teacher through the Big 6. As several of us discussed in one of the online discussions, both processes are very similar and even the Big 6 involves using inquiry learning. I just think it is a bit more concrete and direct.

PRESENTATION TOOLS: PowerPoint

I think Power Point would be the best option. What are your thoughts?
I think you are right. PowerPoint seems to be the best option if we are trying to get teachers on board with a particular model.

3. how to use it/integrate it into the learning that is already taking place
4. possible lessons/examples of its use
